Altered Red Bottle With Designer Inspiration

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to make an altered bottle in the color red. It can be year round but..Think Christmas or Valentines. Think LARGE perfume bottle. Think Sparkle and Dazzle. That’s what I was thinking anyway.

I bought this bottle at one of the local antique markets. If you know someone who works in a bar, they can save them for you and you can get them free. I liked that this one came with a stopper in it.

Here is my bottle BEFORE.

First step to making a bottle is to wash it of course. Next, I spray paint mine. You might find other creators use different techniques, but this is what works for me. I use Rustoleum 2x Paint and Primer. For this bottle I used COLONIAL RED. I bought this color in June to make Fourth of July projects. Sorry I don’t have any pictures of the PAINTING PROCESS. I also didn’t take any AFTER pictures but I do have some screenshots of a video I made.

Paint at least two light coats. Sometimes three coats. Let the paint cure in between coats if at all possible. Then let cure for a couple of days before you begin. That is the BEST procedure because you want it to pass the fingernail scratch test.

You can seal it with Mod Podge or a sealer of your choice, depending on the final look you want. I wanted a SLEEK look with no shine so I left mine as is with no sealer. But I let it cure for weeks. Bottles are like anything else that is painted. If handled roughly the paint will scratch off. But it should be cured enough so that you can handle it and the embellishments will not scratch off the paint.

I used two rhinestone letter C’s to make the designer faux logo. I bought them at Hobby Lobby in the scrapbook section.

I used a rhinestone metal chain from the METAL GALLERY collection also from Hobby Lobby. Buy it when its fifty percent off….it is pricy. If I could have found a beautiful rhinestone necklace I would have used that. But I looked and couldn’t find one that appealed to me because I didn’t want a lot of metal showing. I wrapped it around the stopper portion and the bottom neck portion. One drapes on the backside and one drapes on the frontside. Play with your jewels until you like them. I do not glue mine down because I like how you can change it up.

The beautiful TOTALLY DAZZLED bow on top.

This bottle sat in my craft room while I decided what else I wanted to put on it. I debated about a crown on top of the stopper and my Mom and Lexi wanted the crown. But I felt that it fit did not sparkle enough. So I elected to put a crown on the back side of the bottle and a sparkling bow on top. The crown is from the button section at Walmart and the bow is from TOTALLY DAZZLED. I am a brand ambassador for TOTALLY DAZZLED and there is an affiliate link at the bottom of my page if you wish to browse around for something that BLINGS. CLICK HERE to see a link for the bows. It is affiliate meaning that I earn a commission IF you buy through it.

The crown on the backside. Coming or going this bottle is deliciously blingy.
I have it displayed for sale already at our shelf space in Broussard, LA.

I plan to do a lot more bottles throughout the year….so stay tuned. I don’t know if you follow Michelle Butler or Reilly-Chance Collections on Pinterest but their bottles are AWESOME! Please go and take a peek.

I am drawn to bottles and have been since I was young. I collect them. So altering them was the next natural step in my collection journey.

Thank you for reading my blog!! It means a lot to me!

Ideas to Freshen Up Your Christmas Decor

Hi Everyone!

It’s about that time of year where everyone has already or is going to start decorating for Christmas. Here is a quick post about how you can freshen up those items that you put away last year in totes up in your attic or in your basements. They get all squished, scratched and tired looking. Besides fluffing them out, what else can you do? Here are THREE DIFFERENT WAYS….Keep reading…..

Here are THREE different ways.

  1. Add Diamond Dust

Here are some pictures of how DIAMOND DUST turned these ordinary decor items into something extraordinary. Pictures do not do this sparkling glitter justice. I will try to add some video links so you can see how it really shines and sparkles.

I added DIAMOND DUST to this Santa’s Globe and Beard. It is hard to see but it made a BIG difference!
You can see the DIAMOND DUST on his beard in the photo.

CLICK HERE to see the Pinterest Idea Pin Video to see Santa’s sparkle in motion.

The next two items came from the Dollar Stores. Add DIAMOND DUST and it brings a whole new level of attraction to the items.

After I added Diamond Dust. It is hard to pick up when it is totally covered. It still needed something else……A BOW! See below.
This deer has attitude now. He is BEAUTIFUL and he knows it!

You have probably seen many of these plant stakes at all the Dollar Stores….but when you add DIAMOND DUST they sparkle like they are $$$. Forgive the garage background. It was cold that day.

See the deer sparkled up by CLICKING HERE.

I will try to add video, because this sparkles like you would’t beleive.

The next item is a Door Hanger of mine. I added TOTALLY DAZZLED bling to the bow and DIAMOND DUST to the polka dots. One of my viewers mentioned she thought it made the red look like it was covered in sugar candy. I agree!

I added diamond dust to the red polka dots and TOTALLY DAZZLED to the bow to add much needed sparkle.

See the short Pinterest Idea Pin video of these Elf Stockings by clicking HERE.

2. Add TOTALLY DAZZLED Bling

This is a GREAT company to order all your dazzle from. They have so much to choose from. They even have colored stones now AND antique bronze metal! VERY reasonable prices for extraordinary quality.

For my rustic Christmas Tree I added the TOTALLY DAZZLED Rhinestone ribbon all around the metal bucket. Then I added Red Glitter Tulle. The ribbon comes in a large roll that you can cut to size and also piece together.

Here you can see the rhinestones peaking out from the tulle.
This door hanger needed some pizzaz. I added TOTALLY DAZZLED bling to each bow and some sticker stones to each polka dot.
I wish this picture showed the sparkle better.
I believe these clear and red sticker gems came from the Dollar Store.

Here’s another tree that we did along the same lines. Both of these trees have sold already. YAY!

I love this grinch green style tree. We need to make another one!

3. Repaint in a DESIGNER INSPIRED THEME

I have three examples finished. I am still working on several others. I’ll post those later.

I made the top picture (Making a List….) last year when I was a Chalk Couture designer. It needed something else like a frame. But I am glad I thought of doubling it up with a stretched canvas. The checked background really makes the solid black stand out. This project now works as a wall hanging or a door hanger.

Wall Hanging or…
Door Hanger.

I found this Barn Cookie Jar at a local thrift store. The all white snow on top made it ordinary. I wanted it to be extraordinary so I added designer checks. You can see more pictures and the process by CLICKING HERE.

I had these candlesticks and they were farmhouse decor with buffalo check plaid ribbon. But they needed an upgrade. So again, I added Designer Checks and Stripes.

I hope these three different ways to refresh your decor ( along with examples) help you during this upcoming Holiday Season. To recap:

  1. Add DIAMOND DUST
  2. Add TOTALLY DAZZLED bling
  3. Repaint in a DESIGNER INSPIRED theme

Thank you for reading my blog!! It means a lot to me! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Three Silver Trays Make a Pumpkin

Hi Everyone!

This is my take on the three silver trays turned into a pumpkin creation. This has been done by so many crafters, I certainly cannot take credit for the idea. But I had an inspiration to do one in blue. My inspiration was a little blue pumpkin that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I wanted a blue toile look. You will see a picture down below.

I bought my trays at a little flea market and probably paid too much. I like to keep the local markets in business. lol….But you can buy these at Dollar Tree and save money. Scroll to the bottom to see my supply list.

My blue inspiration was a little blue pumpkin bought at Hobby Lobby.

I began by decoupaging some scrapbook paper to the inside of each tray. I then glued two rows of twine all around the edges. That way any imperfections in the scrapbook paper cut is hidden. Twine matches perfectly with almost anything. But you could also use pearls or bling to line the edges. I then added a little antique gold RUB N BUFF to all the scroll edges.

I began by putting the two trays together. I overlapped them, but I suggest putting them exactly side by side. I still used a popsicle stick to secure them together.

After these are securely glued (you may want to wait before adding the third tray on top.) Hot glue alone does not adhere well to metal. It gets cold too quickly. I had to use both hot glue and E6000 glue. The E6000 takes about 24 hours to set up.

After getting all three trays put together, I began making the stem. I wrapped twine around another popsicle stick so I would have something for my TOTALLY DAZZLED pin to glue to. I chose a really big pin with a lot of swirls and large and small stones.

I wish this picture did the TOTALLY DAZZLED pin justice. It really sparkles and makes a beautiful stem!

Thank you so so much for reading my blog! Below are the supplies I used.

~~~SUPPLIES USED~~~
–3 Oval Silver Trays (you can buy at flea markets or Dollar Stores)
–Scrapbook Paper of your choice (you can also use tissue paper, rice paper or napkins)
–Mod Podge to decoupage the paper onto the tray and used as top sealer
–Twine
–Large Popsicle Sticks
–Hot Glue and E6000 Glue
–Bling or any Fancy Brooch or Pin to use as a stem decoration
Thank you for reading my blog!! It means a lot to me!
Glamorous Flourish Finial
You may already own something similar to this finial. It might be stored away in your attic or basement or garage. Maybe you are tired of it. It no longer matches your decor. REFRESH it. Add paint and embellishments that match your CURRENT decor or turn it into HOLIDAY DECOR.
I have redone so many of these finials that I don’t even remember what color it was to begin with. But I like the SHABBY CHIC style so I painted it white and then antiqued it with Valspar Antiquing Wax. I then added sparkling ribbon and rhinestones.
I used a pin from TOTALLY DAZZLED.
It is now even Wedding worthy. But it could have easily been painted to fit in with your Fall Decor or Christmas Decor.
Think outside the box, and redo, repurpose, refresh, rehab some of your decor. I am just here to shoot out ideas to you. Have fun! If you try something like this comment below and let me know.
Dollar Tree Bandanas Made into Angel Rag Dolls
These little angels look so cute sitting on a shelf or mantel. You can make them in any color for any occasion. How about making some in YOUR team colors? You can buy handkerchiefs/bandanas from the Dollar Tree or almost anyplace.
Begin by choosing two different colors of bandanas. You could choose all one color if you wish or more than two. Cut or tear into about one inch strips. You can also use pinking shears to cut them if you do not want a straight edge. My Mom uses shears since she has arthritis and finds tearing them to be rougher on her hands.
Then you fold them in half and create a tassel that makes the body. You then tie the tassel portion with twine or whatever ribbon you have to match.
My Mom uses the sewn edging of the handkerchief to tie the body and make the “tassel”.
She then glues on twine for her arms and a wooden ball for her head. Sometime we stain the wood and sometimes we leave it raw. And then other times we paint it. It’s all your preference. We ended up painting this one to match her wings.
She is beginning to “come to life”.
You may add a face or hair if you wish. We sometimes use moss for the hair. We normally leave all our angels “faceless”. You can also add a halo.
The wings are a strip of ribbon or lace tied together in the middle.
The angel wings are made from lace that has been mod podged to stiffen it up. Glue them on and Voila you have an Angel. Now for the embellishments.
We chose to put a silver crown on this one. I buy these crowns off Amazon. Just search for crown cake toppers.
We also added a TOTALLY DAZZLED pin to make her look as if she is holding a flower.
These are fun to make and embellish. You can make these in so many colors and use so many different embellishments. Each one is so unique and different.
Below is one that fit in with a Patriotic Theme. She has moss for hair and is holding a star.
I love to just have them SIT on a shelf or mantel.
Just sitting around……
These are so easy to make, that I hope you give it a try. You could also just make a doll for a child to play with. Let me know in the comments if you give it a try.
Thank you SO MUCH for visiting my blog!! It means a lot to me and my MOM!
Halloween FUN BLACK CATS
Hi Everyone!
Last year we made these cute Black Cats all in a country farmhouse theme. This year, I wanted to change them up and jazz them up. So, on one set, I put dapper black and white houndstooth ribbons and on another set I put white feather boas. Totally Dazzled Bling had to go on them too! I tried to do a video with the “Green Acres” song, but it was nixed. I understand because I don’t have permission to use it. But it was a really cute video.
My Mom made these last year out of 2×4’s. They are SO CUTE! Whether you want a country cat or a city cat…..(Town and/or Country Style) these are FOR YOU! Have fun for Halloween. No fright…..just fun!
We made all our cats like this last year. Too cute! Raffia was their embellishments.
Here’s our uptown cats. Black and White Houndstooth ribbon with Bling.
Here’s our Park Avenue Cats. I put feather boas on them along with some Bling. I also added eyelashes.
Hope these brought a smile to your face. It’s all for fun anyway. Thanks for supporting my blog. I really appreciate it!
Sentiments Plaques Can Be Refreshed with Diamond Dusted
These signs or plaques had great sentiments. Love and Hope. But they were dark, dirty and forlorn; and being sold at a garage sale. I saw potential. I even thought they would make great wedding presents. But they needed makeovers. I didn’t take any before pictures but I did do a video about my garage sale haul and took some screen shots.
I cleaned them up and painted everything white and then added Valspar Antiquing Wax to make them look “shabby chic”. I then added embellishments.
For the LOVE sign I added a rhinestone ribbon around the frame and added “Totally Dazzled” Bling to each corner.
I then Diamond Dusted the background behind the glass. Luckily there was enough room between the glass and the background wood. It was almost like a shallow shadow box.
For the HOPE sign I also used Diamond Dust. I just used it in the inside section of the plaque. I wish photos picked up the sparkle better.
I hope this post gives you an idea of how you can REFRESH some of your decor that you may have hiding away in a basement or attic or garage. Or you can always go thrifting/junking and find some hidden treasures to REMAKE, REPURPOSE, REFAB RESTYLE or REFRESH.
Love Sign made from Dazzled Up Hardware
Hi Everyone! Thanks for reading my blog!
I made a small LOVE sign with keys and a cabinet door. That sign led me to want to make a bigger one. I got the idea from Kathy with her Facebook page, Royale Funky Junque. Please follow her for great inspiration. Please keep reading for the supply list, etc.
I found all the supplies at Hobby Lobby. I had in my mind’s eye what I wanted. First I put the wooden sign in my basket and then went to the hardware aisle. It took me awhile, but I found what I thought was the best hardware for each letter. Then I took everything to checkout. The cashier reminded me that it was NOT half off but that it would be that coming week. So I took pictures of what I still needed to buy and came back later to purchase it HALF OFF. It still costs about $30 in hardware to make it all but I think it is entirely worth it.
Here is the letter L. I am arranging them here along with the rhinestone I want to put along the edge of the sign. I took pictures of the price tags so you would have any idea of the costs.
Here is the letter O. I used two handles and was going to put a Walmart rhinestone button in the middle. But instead I went with a Totally Dazzled pin and used the button on the letter V instead.
Here is the letter V. It definitely needs some bling added.
Here is the letter E. The three rhinestone hardware handles did not have a price and I cannot remember what the price was. I think they were the least expensive in the whole bunch.
Below are some pictures of the finished letters after I added some crystals and other bling. The rhinestone ribbon can be bought at the Dollar Tree. But I needed long pieces so I used the sheet of ribbon you can buy at Totally Dazzled. You just cut into how many rows you want and the length you want.
I added Swarovski Crystals with Gorilla Super Glue.
I plan to give this away as a wedding present for a special couple. I hope they like it. It is both rustic and glamorous at the same time.
Sparkling Leopard Cross
This cross is elegant and sophisticated. It is unique with it’s Leopard Print Ribbon on top of Burlap Ribbon and Rhinestone Bling. My Mom made and designed this cross. I just added the bling. Pictures do not do the sparkle justice. When you walk by it, it just winks at you.
Mom cut out the cross with her jigsaw and painted it black. Then added the burlap ribbon and then the leopard ribbon on top of that. Now for the really fun part…..THE Embellishments.
First we added burlap and ribbon flowers that had brown middles. But it still needed more. lol.
Next, I added a Totally Dazzled pin in the middle of the flowers and then I decided to add a one layer rhinestone piece of ribbon down each branch of the cross.
My Mom loves to make crosses. It brings her peace and happiness. It is great therapy for her after her bout with Cancer.
Jazzed Up Black and White Harlequin Candle
Hi Everyone!
I just want to do a quick post today about making candle pins and adding bling to any candle you may already have in your home.
Harlequin print is my latest obsession. I found this last candle on my Hobby Lobby’s shelf an it was marked down to $3.24. I hope they will get more in and it hasn’t been discontinued. But if it has, have no fear, I will decoupage with rice paper.
Reduced price at Hobby Lobby.
I chose silver to embellish with and found a pin from my order from TOTALLY DAZZLED. I bought the flat head push pins on Amazon and glued one to the back of the pin. I also bought the rhinestone look ribbon at TOTALLY DAZZLED. It comes in a large and wide roll. I cut a section with 5 rows to fit the candle and glued to the bottom of this candle.
I glued the push pin tack onto the bling with E6000.
Wish you could see the sparkle in person.
Thank you for reading my blog!! It means a lot to me!
