Happy Tuesday Everyone!
I had all these small sections of scrapbook paper left over from other projects. So when I saw several Christmas Trees made from scraps, I decided to do one too. It’s awesome that every single tree will be different and unique. These would make great gifts. Especially secret Santa gifts.
- Scrapbook paper cut into about one inch wide strips (all lengths are needed)
- Scissors or paper cutter
- Glue stick
- Background paint color (eye ball what color would look good with YOUR scrapbook papers)
- Canvas or wood or a picture frame to use as a backdrop
- Ribbon to coordinate with papers (optional) or you can put a STAR on top
- Snowflakes 3 dimensional or stencils (optional)
Below are two pictures of how I was just cutting out strips from leftover pieces we had already used. You should be proud of me….I took a lot of pictures for this blog post. lol
Below is a picture of how I lined them up. I put similar lengths all together. I could tell that a white background was NOT going to work. It was not showcasing the papers off to their full potential. So I decided to paint the canvas……But oh what color should I choose?
I decided to go with a cream color for my canvas background. The two black wooden boards are for another project. I always work on several projects at a time.
Below is the paint I used. I thought a creamy color would be perfect for the white scrapbook papers to stand out against.
But after I put my scrapbook paper on the painted canvas, I felt it needed something else. Plus I had in the back of my mind that I wanted to put snowflakes in the background. White was just not standing out enough. So I decided to put some kind of antiquing medium on the cream colored paint.
I think you could do this and make Christmas cards or gift tags. It’s a great way to use up leftover scrapbook paper.
