Sentiments Plaques Can Be Refreshed with Diamond Dusted

These signs or plaques had great sentiments. Love and Hope. But they were dark, dirty and forlorn; and being sold at a garage sale. I saw potential. I even thought they would make great wedding presents. But they needed makeovers. I didn’t take any before pictures but I did do a video about my garage sale haul and took some screen shots.

I cleaned them up and painted everything white and then added Valspar Antiquing Wax to make them look “shabby chic”. I then added embellishments.

For the LOVE sign I added a rhinestone ribbon around the frame and added “Totally Dazzled” Bling to each corner.

I then Diamond Dusted the background behind the glass. Luckily there was enough room between the glass and the background wood. It was almost like a shallow shadow box.

For the HOPE sign I also used Diamond Dust. I just used it in the inside section of the plaque. I wish photos picked up the sparkle better.

I hope this post gives you an idea of how you can REFRESH some of your decor that you may have hiding away in a basement or attic or garage. Or you can always go thrifting/junking and find some hidden treasures to REMAKE, REPURPOSE, REFAB RESTYLE or REFRESH.

Aqua Diamond Dusted Candle with Thrift Store Holder

Hi Everyone!

Do you want to know how I changed a tired, boring candle in a saucer into a sparkling, sassy candle in a luxurious candle holder? I was so tired of this boring water fountain candle that I keep on my bedroom dresser. I bought it at QVC. I love the color but it was just sitting, looking all forlorn. I never use the fountain because it is too messy. But it does work wonderfully.

My dresser BEFORE. I have since jazzed up several items. My favorite is the candle you can read about below.

Do you also get bored with your decor? Sometimes, just adding Diamond Dust will be the spark it needs to make it liven up.

Diamond Dust is actual chards of glass. So the sparkle is unbelievable sometimes. It is like glitter on steroids. If you like sparkle, you would like Diamond Dust. I buy mine from Amazon.

I use Mod Podge to glue my Diamond Dust on. Please refer to my Facebook Live Videos for video instructions. With this large candle, I would brush on my glue a section at a time. Then add the diamond dust with a sprinkle jar. (I put my diamond dust in a sprinkle container for easy disbursement.) I slowing did this all around the candle. I then added a paper flower as a candle pin.

It takes a little while for the Mod Podge to dry. It will look cloudy at first. But it will dry clear.

Next, my candle was too pretty to put back in the saucer. So I bought this candle holder at Salvation Army. I added sparkle ribbon to it that you can buy at Hobby Lobby back in the fabric department.

I think this decor is much improved. I will be doing some more. Little by little, step by step.

Thank you so much for reading my blog!! I really appreciate it!

Toy Bee Turned into Glamorous Queen Bee

This little queen bee would be a great addition to a wreath or a sweet decoration for a tiered tray. I bought several at Dollar General to glam and jazz up in different ways.

I wanted to make this queen bee after seeing this done on Facebook by Debi Rigg on Studio MD AZ. I want to make another one with black and white checks in the future. I am practicing my checks on bigger projects first. This toy is too tiny for me to try right now. Practice, practice, practice.

I used Diamond Dust on her wings. It made a big difference. See below for the before during and after pictures.

Here she is WITHOUT Diamond Dust.
My Mom made the bee skeps in the background. One is made from wood and one is made from a recycled ENSURE can! She uses rope from the Dollar Tree and I put the little jewels and bees on them. LOVE!
Here they are side by side. Before and After.

Let your imagination run wild and paint one of these toys to match your decor or your project. Decorating with bees is so popular this summer.

Diamond Dusted Piglet Princesses on a Rose Gold Throne

I saw these sweet little pigs on a shelf at Hobby Lobby and thought they would look so special if I diamond dusted them. Of course they needed crowns too. Then I wanted a throne for them and it so happened that my Mom had this miniature doll chair that had yellowed over time. So I spray painted it a rose gold and added bling. I wish pictures would do Diamond Dust justice. It has SO SO much sparkle!

I don’t have any BEFORE pictures of the little piglets. But you can imagine that they were plain ceramic before the sparkle was added.

Here my Mom was successful at gluing the little crowns on top. She used E6000.
They really are darlings.
I asked my Facebook followers if I should leave the chair/throne rose gold and everyone said yes. I had thought about changing it to regular gold. The rose gold perfectly matches their little noses, eyes, ears, and hooves.
Here’s a picture before I added the bling to the throne.
Their throne needed something. I think this was the perfect enhancement.
Cuteness. Farmhouse Glamour!
Pretty Princess Piglets

I hope to encourage you to be creative. Use a product you may not have used before such as Diamond Dust. I bought mine from Amazon. I also bought the little crowns from Amazon. The pin on the throne is from Totally Dazzled.
