Unique Mardi Gras Decorations

Mardi Gras 2022 is well underway. Even though it is “Fat Tuesday” the celebrations here in Acadiana begin several weeks before. All the different parades and balls all need to have times slotted so that the majority of people could attend almost all they wish. Each town has a parade and celebration. Every Saturday and Sunday has a parade and the Monday and FAT TUESDAY have parades as well. You can buy or DIY these Unique Mardi Gras Decorations.

My Mom and I made these decorations several weeks ago but I am just now getting around to posting about these. However, I do want to make a “diary” so that I know what sells for next year.

Unique Mardi Gras Decorations: Door Hangers

The door hangers are VERY POPULAR. Therefore, next year, we want to make more in all colors and styles. Here are two styles that we made this year, both out of wood. Pictures are below.

Unique Mardi Gras Decorations: Crowns

We made two crowns with fleur de lis floral picks. Both crowns were thrift store finds. One is a gold glitter crown I filled up with a purple feather boa and the other one is a wine bottle holder that I filled up with Mardi Gras colored garland. Pictures are below.

Unique Mardi Gras Decorations: Finials

I also took some finials and spray painted them with Krylon paint in Gloss Purple. Antique Gold Rub n Buff was used to highlight the scrollwork. A jester embellished one and a bow embellished the other.

Up-Cycle What You May Already Have on Hand

The last project I want to show on this post is an up-cycle of a gnome I painted. It lacked presence. So I added a metal background and painted it purple and stenciled on a gold harlequin design.
