Santa on a Silver Tray
Hi Everyone!
Do you have a silver tray laying around your home with nothing to do? Or have you just seen one at the thrift store or flea market? Use it as a SUBSTRATE for a SANTA CLAUS mixed media door hanger!
I did make this project on a Facebook LIVE. Click Here if you would like to see it.
First thing I did was clean my silver. But it was tarnished beyond cleaning. Much of the silver you find is that way. But it still serves as a wonderful backdrop for home decor.
I first decoupaged red textured scrapbook paper to the center section. I used Mod Podge to glue it on and also to seal it.
Next I glued down the round bead garland on the outer edge of the center. I recommend using Gorilla Super Glue. I used hot glue during a Facebook Live and it later came off. Hot glue put directly onto metal doesn’t want to stick. You could also use E6000 glue sparingly. A small tip applicator glue works the best.
Then I arranged the embellishments to see how I wanted everything to fit. I knew I wanted the buffalo plaid Santa to sit in the middle with florals and ribbons at the bottom. I did use hot glue for everything else because it was glued to the paper.
I did turn this into a wall hanging, but if you put the bow on top then you could put it on an easel.
If you worry about putting silver as a door hanger, you can put felt on the back so it doesn’t scratch your door.
Use up that silver. Save it from the land fills!
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read my blog! I truly appreciate it!
