Add a Larger Canvas to a Smaller Picture, Add Layers for Interest
Hi Everyone!
I made these two signs last year when I was a Chalk Couture Designer. I wanted to make larger wall hangings or door hangers from these two projects so I added an extra stretched canvas to make them more of a statement pieces. Layers add interest.
Santa Approved is on a thin piece of wood. Very cute on it’s own. But I think it makes more of a statement with its canvas background now.
Below is the option of a door hanger. If you want just a wall hanging, you can hide the ribbon behind the canvas frame.
Next is the red and black buffalo plaid SEASON’S GREETINGS. It looks cute all on it’s own too. But I wanted stripes to correspond with its striped ticking ribbon.
I hope this gives you an idea for any of your existing decor. I just used a 1 inch wide piece of wood trim to make my stripes and checks. It really doesn’t take very long to paint either the checks or stripes. (Actually I think the stripes are harder) For the stripes you could use painters tape to make your grid. But I find that I have to touch it up so much after pulling off the tape, that I might as well just paint it freehand.
Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones! Thank you SO MUCH for reading my blog!!
