Refresh a Christmas Cookie Jar
I bought this Cookie Jar at a Christian Thrift Store here in South Louisiana. I knew right away what I wanted to do with it. It needed a DESIGNER touch. Black and White Checks. Checks look so good with Red Christmas decor.
It wasn’t hard to do. I used a large craft stick to make my marks in pencil and then used black ENAMEL craft paint. The kind that has the little wine glass on top. That’s the sign that you can paint glass with it. Check out STUDIO MD AZ on Facebook for more details on what paint brushes to use and how to lay your grid out. And ROYAL FUNKY JUNQUE on Facebook for how to paint trays and ceramics. Both Kathy and Debi are my inspiration for this project.
What was tricky was to get the lid lined up exactly with the bottom part of the jar.
Now, this cookie jar could not be put in the dishwasher of course. I recommend just wiping it down with a damp cloth. NO SCRUBBING. I did seal it with a blend of TRIPLE THICK and DURACLEAR.
The checks really brought this cookie jar to life.
As you get your Christmas out of storage, think about what you might be able to do to bring new life into your favorite decor items.
