Sugar Skull Tee Shirt
Hi Everyone!
I saw a shirt like this done last year and I wanted to do it ever since. I went to my Dollar Tree as soon as they began putting out Halloween, way back in August/September and bought two wooden sugar skull outlines. One has a rose and one has a top hat. I chose the one with a rose to make on my tee shirt. I got this idea from Barb at “THE SHABBY TREE”. Please go follow her page if you don’t already. (She has over a million followers so you probably already do…lol)
I made a combination fast play and regular play 3 minute video on how I made this.
You can see it on YouTube HERE.
You can see it on Facebook HERE.
But I did take some screenshots and posted those pictures below. They are all mixed sizes, so please forgive me.
I already had a burnt orange, long sleeve tee shirt that I already had worn last year. I thought it would look nice with a little bleach for Halloween. I like how it turned out a light terra cotta color.
Spray lightly. It will look like nothing is there except water. That is okay. It takes at least 5 minutes to start showing. You can always go back and add more in 10 minutes if you want. But the danger of spraying too much is that it will bleed through and drip over into other areas and you will lose your design.
It takes between 5 and 10 minutes to start fading the ink/dye of the shirt.
Try this technique for other holidays too. Maybe a red or green tee shirt with a Santa or Tree? Or maybe a red tee with a heart cutout for Valentines? Barb from THE SHABBY TREE has also used lace doilies. These are fun to make and I hope you give it a try. Something fun to try with children too. Just wear old clothes in case you splatter bleach. 🙂
Thank you for reading my blog!! It means a lot to me!
