Metallic Teal Pumpkin
I decided to make a pumpkin to fit into my own home decor. I bought this teal paint at the same time I bought the metallic pink paint. I knew I wanted feathers to be one of the decor features of this pumpkin so I was lucky enough to find two feathers at Hobby Lobby. Their feather section was VERY low at the time of this purchase.
What I didn’t know was what I was going to put down the grooves of the pumpkin. I really wanted a silver sparkly ribbon but I couldn’t find any at the time of purchase. So I decided to go with pearls and I REALLY LIKE it better. I also added pearl picks bought from the Christmas section at Hobby Lobby.
I bought white daisies in the wedding section of Hobby Lobby and those were my accent pieces for the top. They were part of a brides bouquet and already had bling for their centers. I waited to buy it when the HIS/HER brand was 50% off. (This pumpkin didn’t come together all in one day)
I also bought one large blue hydrangea for the middle from Hobby Lobby. I couldn’t believe how it matched so perfectly with the paint…as if I painted the flower with the same paint. It was $9.99 but I bought it when florals were 50% off.
I bought the side feathers from Hobby Lobby. I went back a few weeks later and bought some feathers from Michaels. I added one of those to the top. I thought it needed height. And with the top feather it also needed the pedestal. I had taken the pedestal away so it could be seen better on my buffet. Below is a picture BEFORE the top feather so you can see the difference.
I made the pedestal from a Dollar General candlestick. It was black and then I painted it the same color. I then white washed it with watered down white acrylic paint. And then I antiqued it with Valspar Antiquing Wax. I did not want the pedestal to be the star of the show. I wanted it to fade into the background more and the pumpkin to stand out more.
I adore this pumpkin now with it’s top feather and pedestal. It will sit on my buffet until after Thanksgiving. LOVE IT!
