Metallic Pink Pumpkin and Birthday
Hi My Blog Reader Friends! Today is the one year birthday of my BLOG. I want to thank all of you for reading, looking at my photos, liking, commenting and subscribing! Every view counts! It brings joy to my heart to know there are people who like what I post. This post is about an unconventional color for a pumpkin. It turns out very elegant and upscale.
I just wanted to say that there are times when you just want to give up on social media, blogging, etc. It is not easy. It is time consuming. You wonder if there is ANYONE out there enjoying what you post. But another blogger, who was also my business coach for awhile said, “The first year is the roughest. If you can get through that year and keep going you will see benefits.” I hope she is right.
I got the idea of a pink pumpkin from Kathy at her Facebook Page…..Royale Funky Junque. Go follow her she has terrific ideas.
I knew I wanted mine to be a metallic pink instead of a soft, pale pink. I found all the rose gold/pink embellishments at Hobby Lobby. I also bought the paper mache pumpkin from Hobby Lobby. Pictures of all the supplies will be at the very bottom.
The first thing I did was paint the brown pumpkin white. I thought the true color of the pink would come through much better if I primed it. I was right. Then I painted a good coat of the metallic pink paint. Deco Art Metallic Extreme Sheen in Rose Quartz. I then had to paint a light second coat in some areas. I did not paint my stem because I knew it wouldn’t show. I used the stem to hold the pumpkin while I painted. I could have left it brown. But from now on, I think I will paint it the color of the pumpkin so it all blends.
After it was painted and very dry, I did a Facebook Live and put it all together. You can watch it here: Facebook Live Video
Here are some pictures I took before, during and after.

The candlestick is what will make this project unique—one-of-a-kind! I bought it at a thrift store and it was dark brown. I dry brushed it with the same metallic pink paint. It is beyond gorgeous. Pictures do not do it justice. I sold this pumpkin the day after my Facebook Video. It is on it’s way to it’s forever home.
Here are the supplies I used. I bought everything at Hobby Lobby. At the time of purchase all Fall and Christmas was 40% off.
I truly hope you try your hand at making this pumpkin or one like it in your favorite color. I plan on making a teal color pumpkin soon. I already have made an oil rubbed bronze color pumpkin with more traditional colors. Make these for YOUR store or craft show. Good Luck! Happy Fall!
Thank you for reading my blog!! It means a lot to me!
