Flea Market Candle Set Turned Champagne Tone in Color

Hi My Fellow Thrifters….

This candle and candleholder started out a very different color and was put in a corner at an antique flea market. I knew I could add razzmatazz to it and make it look glamorous and loved once again.

I am sorry that I didn’t take a BEFORE picture. I bought this because of the texture and shape and lines of the set. I wanted a designer look to it so I chose to use a mix of gold and silver to highlight all the details.

I did not brush paint anything. I used Rub n Buff and covered everything with that. I used the silver and antique gold. I squeezed some of each on a plate and lightly mixed them together. I am okay when it doesn’t mix perfectly and you can see some of each of the silver and gold. I love this technique and the color that comes from doing this. The antique gold by itself is very gold. The silver by itself is very dull and flat. Mix them together and the angels sing. Just kidding.

You can tell here that the candle holder was dark in color to begin with.

This week is my blog’s first birthday week. I hope to do a post a day to celebrate.
