Aqua Heart for Valentine’s
I like unconventional colors for traditional holidays. I wanted to paint an aqua heart to go on my buffet as an ode to Valentine’s Day. I do love red and/or pink….but aqua is boss.
So my first step with this painting was to do a background that would coordinate with my large painting already on my buffet. I bought my large painting from Pier One years ago. I adore nature so the leaves are right up my alley. It also has a lot of metallic paint sheen. So it took me several tries before my background for my heart matched or coordinated well enough to stand up in front of this large painting.
My first try was too orange, my next try was too yellow, then I finally got it right with just enough blues, beiges and browns.
Now where could I have found a painting like this? You sometimes have to make your own to fit YOUR decor and the SPACE you want to put it in. I hope this has inspired you to buy some paints and paint something for your home. Use cardboard if you don’t have a canvas. Just give creating a try. It does a body good. And a MIND.
