Berry Wreath Repurposed Into Valentine’s Decor
My husband and I received this wooden serving tray as a free gift for buying some furniture. But it was way too TEAL to match my home decor. I thought if I white washed it that it might bring down the teal to a good distressed aqua color.
IT WORKED! I LOVE IT!
Here is a time lapsed video showing how I white washed it.
I thought it would look perfect as the backdrop to my Christmas Berry Wreath that I wanted to REPURPOSE and use for Valentine’s Day. (I have a post of how I made this wreath from an embroidery hoop and dollar tree berry picks.)
Keep reading for more pictures and details.
Below is the tray after I finished white washing the top and the sides. It is exactly how I imagined it would be. Not too white or too cream and no longer too teal. I would brush on some of the Vanilla and then use a paper towel to wipe some off. I worked it in similar to stain.
I knew it needed a HEART to make the wreath look like Valentine’s Decor. So I had one in my stash and I painted it a dark red to match the berries.
Below I was trying to figure out how to attach the heart to the wreath and the wreath to the tray. I decided to use twine and Valentine ribbon. I just hot glued the ribbon to the back of the tray and can easily remove it after Valentine’s Day.
I love repurposing, refurbishing, rehabbing, refreshing decorative items into something more useful and beautiful.
