How Do You Decorate After Christmas?
I find taking Christmas decorations down can be very depressing. To alleviate that I usually put up something cute, fun and exciting to replace it. But this year, I started cleaning and organizing my craft spaces at the same time as I was taking down my decorations.
I am still looking for inspiration this year. Shall I go with a WINTER theme? Or go straight to VALENTINE’S DAY Decorations? Or should I do what many in my community do and go to MARDI GRAS Decorations? Mardi Gras celebrations will be very subdued this year. I think most of the balls have been canceled. We are not sure about the Parades yet.
We didn’t sell all our handmade Christmas crafts this year, so I am having to box those away for next year. The economy is so bad in South Louisiana that people are not buying anything extra. I had to find a space to store all those decor items, plus store all my arts and crafts supplies from the Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Because of the economy, Mom and I do not want to make too many crafts for Valentine’s or Mardi Gras, etc. But we do want to make some for my own home and her little house. I also plan on making art kits and craft kits. I want to make Kits that people can make in their home in their pajamas and at the end have a cute painting or craft to show off and bring them joy. Crafting and Painting is an experience. That experience can destress and bring joy and healing therapy. Buying kits allows people to: 1. Not buy a lot of supplies 2. Not have to get out to several stores 3. Stay safer in this pandemic.
We are also in the planning phase of making some door hangers and possibly a few porch leaners. I would also like to make kits for these or teach tutorials on how to make them online. More about this coming soon.
I rearranged, cleaned and organized my garage where I do the majority of my arts and crafts. I also organized some of my extra rooms in my house. My office was a mess and so was my spare bedroom. So instead of focusing on decorating, I focused on ORGANIZING.
Please comment below or on my Facebook page on how you decorate after Christmas. Or do you go back to your home having no holiday decor at all? I am curious as to what people do all around the country.
